My relaxing three-day weekend

So, how was your holiday weekend, Cori?

It began Friday: Josh was still sick and his ear hurt. He went to the ER from his office, left to come see the kids sing songs in their annual show, then couldn't take it and went back to the ER. I brought two cranky wired-on-juice kids and their stuff home on my own, fed them, bathed them and put them to sleep, despite a mid-sleepytime phone call from my sister-in-law looking for my SSN for Josh for insurance purposes.

I hope no one is suprised that while the kids had macaroni and cheese for dinner, Mama had gin and tonic. Plus an ibuprophin for my period, which also started today.

Oh yes, and this was my first week at my new job (which I love, but which is very full of meetings, plus the stress of figuring out the new job, etc.).

Josh staggered in at 10, still dizzy, having been driven home by his sister, and went to bed. Where he stayed for the next three days.

Sunday night: It. Gets. BETTER!

Josh being still sick two days later, as in hasn't gotten out of bed too weak and dizzy to stand sick, I take the kids to the park for a picnic with friends. When I come back, my sister and her boyfriend are in the nabe so I beg them to come over so I can make the kids dinner without Bailey trying to climb into the oven.

Said boyfriend is a doctor and thinks Josh should go back to the ER, but to the Eye & Ear Hospital's ER for a specialist, because he should be getting better by now. I wisk the kids through bath and bed, helped by them not having napped, Amy stays with them, and A. and I help Josh downstairs and into the car.

Which has a flat tire.

Car service, excellent and swift care at the ER, new scrips filled, subway home. Tomorrow I have to go change the flat, hobble on the semi-flat spare to the nearest tire emporium ON Memorial Day! (I'm *sure* they're open, no?) while riding herd on the kids again.

Because Josh is so sick, I've been trying to let him sleep, so there's only been one parent available for ALL the kid wake-ups (average: four) and that one parent is me. So I haven't slept and have been on duty for four days and trying to take care of Josh as well.

The good news is that the second antibiotic has worked very well and Josh is now able to get out of be and do a few things. Hopefully all better soon, so I can collapse and take care of my cramps, my cold and my exhaustion.

Dancing Queen

Today at a friend's house Bailey turned on the stereo all by himself (not a surprise, since all buttons are irresistible to him), which happened to have the Pet Shop Boys' Greatest Hits in it. He was entranced! He started dancing and turning up the volume and dancing and grinning. I sat and laughed my ass off while my husband the Deadhead cringed in the other room.

Then he found a washable non-toxic marker and decided it tasted good, so there he was dancing and grooving to the Pet Shop Boys with his mouth liberally outlined in bright red marker.

We haven't had RuPaul in babysit for us, but I'm thinking maybe we should...
